Taking Pleasure in the Simple Things: What is that thing?

Last week I started a new blog series called "Taking Pleasure in the Simple Things."  I began it because I wanted to be purposeful when it comes to gratitude.  It is easier to be thankful for the "obvious" things like health and family but I often forget to express my gratitude for the simpler things. You can read the first post in the series here.

For my second post in the series, I am grateful for the thing in the picture above.

  So what is it?

That was my mother's day present from my husband.  Still not sure what it is?  It is the best present ever... my very own air conditioner!
Yes, we have central air, but my bedroom is upstairs and it is never cool enough for me.

I had surgery last year so I am now in menopause and the nights are the worst for hot flashes!  There is almost nothing I can do to get cool enough.  My husband knows how I suffer to sleep so he bought me this air conditioner so I can cool down the bedroom to 63 degrees.  It has helped tremendously in getting me to fall asleep at night.

We live in a townhouse community that does not allow window air conditioners.  So my husband was able to find this one that sits on the floor of my bedroom and can not be seen from the window.

It may not seem like much to someone else but I am so grateful for it.  I appreciate the gift and the giver.

"In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
I Thessalonians 5:18
