I stopped watching Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) many seasons ago. I used to watch it in the early seasons but I stopped watching a few seasons ago. It used to be a fairly family friendly show (it airs during the 8:00 family hour on the east coast) but in recent years it has gotten progressively more inappropriate. Some of the dancers are performing in barely more than their underwear. It is mostly the outfits on the female dancers that have crossed the line.
So why have I started watching again? Candace Cameron Bure! You may remember her as eldest daughter DJ Tanner from Full House. You may have watched her as a kid or may have a daughter now like mine who watches Full House in reruns before bed at night.
Candace Cameron Bure is a Christian that is not shy about her faith. On the show last night she performed in a modest dress (pictured below) and in an interview during the show stated that she planned to be a role model and wear modest costumes. She is a woman who has the courage to stand by her morals and stand up for her faith.
She was also quoted as saying that she wants to be an inspiration for other moms, "I want to represent all the moms out there and inspire them and
encourage them," she explained. "I'm just a woman, I'm not any different
than all the moms out there -- my priority is my family, my husband, my
kids and so this for me is truly just a joy. It's something I've never
done and to get the opportunity to do this is fantastic. I'm just going
to enjoy every moment. We're working hard of course, but I'm thrilled to
just be able to work hard and do this."
Last night, Candace and her dance partner Mark finished 2nd after the scores from the judges. The way the show works, one couple is voted off each week. The couple with the lowest scores goes home. The score is a combination of the scores from the judges and the votes from the viewers. That is where you come in!
You need to vote for Candace! I am voting for her for several reasons:
1. She works really hard and does a great job dancing.
2. She is a Christian that is not afraid to share her faith.
3. She wants to be an inspiration to other moms out there.
4. She is a champion for modesty. You can be modest and still look beautiful and be successful.
5. She is bring the "family" back into what used to be a family show.
Without your votes, her strong finish with judges will not be enough to keep her in the game. I would love to show the mainstream media that it doesn't take a skimpy outfit to win at this game, that morals and conviction can win as well. I want Candace to show that the talent and hard work are what matters not the sex appeal.
Join me in voting for Candace and her family values!
Wow she looks so pretty in these pics and so different from Full House! I didn't even recognize who she was until I read your post! I don't watch this show, never have, but my mom does so I'll mention this to her! Thanks for sharing with Time for Mom :)
ReplyDeleteI love her!! I don't actually watch DWTS (mainly for the reasons that you mentioned about it getting more inappropriate) but I think it's great that she models and supports modesty! :D
ReplyDeleteI have only watched the show a few times. I didn't know she was on it. I will check it out, I have always liked her. Please come share at the Bacon Time linky, if you want another place to party.
ReplyDeleteHey it's Deonna from the Child at Heart blog. I couldn't agree more! I am so excited that she is on and I LOVE her. I hope the world does too and I think they will. I love that she isn't conforming to the other girl's modesty standards. Maybe everyone else will follow her lead :) I'm pinning this to spread the word!
ReplyDeleteSo, if she weren't Christian you wouldn't vote for her? No disrespect, just the message I'm getting.
ReplyDeleteI listed many reasons why I am voting for her. Her faith is just one of them.
DeleteI agree about how the show has gotten really skimpy in their outfits as well as dance movies in general. I was kind of embarrassed one time watching it when my mom was staying with us haha. I still love the show for some reason and I was really impressed with Candace's example on the show Monday. I'm totally rooting for her!
DeleteI love it when celebrities make a stand like this! I am all about the elegant but covered up look and it's refreshing to see it sometime! Thanks for linking up to The Wednesday Roundup!
ReplyDeleteI love her! I hate the fact that people out there won't vote for her because she's outspoken about her faith and her role in her marriage. So ridiculous. Thank goodness there are still Hollywood actresses out there who have morals and aren't afraid to stand up for them. I missed it this week but I will definitely be voting for her next week!
ReplyDeleteSilly me. I vote for the best dancers since that is what the show is about...
ReplyDeleteThe judges score the dancing, the viewers vote for who they like and want to see back the next week. That is what the show is about.
DeleteYes, and the votes from viewers should go toward the best dancers, IMO.
DeleteAs members of the audience, we are not experienced dancers. We are expected to vote for who we want to see back the next week. Everyone votes their heart.
DeleteOh man, I LOVE Candace! I will be voting for her EVERY WEEK! Let's get this girl to WIN!
ReplyDeletewe've never watched Dancing with the Stars ... because i have three boys and all that flesh is just. too. much. But I didn't know this about Candace and am definitely pulling for her now ... and my goodness, isn't she gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad that there is hardly anything on TV that kids can actually watch! Candace is beautiful and is such a great role model…so refreshing!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I watched Dancing with the Stars more than twice, but thank you for the info and sharing this post with us at the #WWDParty.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing Candace on DWTS this season... I tend to have this show on, but barely pay attention to it, as it's on during my only break in the day to get paperwork and such done... Thanks for sharing with the Cozy Reading Spot! Love this one

Hi Amy, I just wanted to give you a heads up that this post will be featured on the Cozy Reading Spot tomorrow! I hope you can stop by and grab a feature button if you want!
DeleteThanks again for being part of the CRS!
I absolutely agree - and have been so enjoying her dances! She is a wonderful dancer, but also a great role model for my daughter. Thank you so much for linking up with Mommy Club Wednesday! I had to smile when I saw another Candace fan!
ReplyDeleteShannon :)
I just love her and Kirk. They are two very inspirational people who live and speak their faith in a very public way. I hope she continues to do well and thanks for sharing at Fridays Unfolded!

Thanks for sharing this post at the Say G'Day Saturday link up. I haven't actually seen this show here in Australia but I know of her and her brother for obvious reasons! I'm so thrilled to see someone defending their faith in the public sphere. People just don't do that sort of thing here in Oz.
ReplyDeleteHope to see you again this weekend!
Best wishes,
Natasha in Oz
I think I only watched the first season of DWTS. I enjoy watching them dance, but I find the harsh criticism on "newbies" to be extreme. I understand it's entertainment, but as the seasons have gone on they have gotten meaner. These are not trained dancers. Maybe I'll start watching again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with Turn it Up Tuesday.
Vote for Candace who thank God first for everything she do. Candace said she was dancing for the audience but especially for the audience of one God. How awesome is that! Vote for Candace and Mark! she is so humble.
